Is your car parked on the sidewalk? Several neighbors have emailed this morning about one or possibly two cars blocking the sidewalk on 5th Ave NW. Pedestrians, including kids on their way to school, have to walk out into the street to get around a vehicle that is parked on the sidewalk. This is a safety hazard.
Seattle Municipal Code 11.14.570 states:
“No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle on or over a sidewalk, whether constructed or not.” Recap… It is not legal to park on the sidewalk.
Pedestrians who encounter a car parked on a sidewalk — like in the example photo below — should call Seattle Police Department’s Parking Enforcement Unit at 206-386-9012.
