Get some extra help this summer and provide a great learning experience for a low-income youth by participating in the Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP).
With Seattle’s youth unemployment rate at an historic high of 13%, the Mayor’s Initiative for Youth Employment is partnering with SYEP to place 2000 youth in paid internships this summer. Your business gets some help — subsidized by SYEP — while supporting a young person, who is turn provided with case management support and mentorship from SYEP.
The 7-week program runs from July 1st-August 19, during which youth interns can work up to 25 hours per week. They also attend job readiness training prior to beginning their internships.
If you think you might be able to take on an intern, please take this quick survey to help identify the best fit between your business and a youth intern. The survey also starts the process for you to host an intern this summer. All surveys must be completed by this Friday, May 8th.
Thank you for considering — providing this sort of opportunity can really change the life of a young person.
