Did you see the Kids Inc. students collecting grocery bags full of food this week? This is the 10th year that Melissa Winchester, Kids Inc. Center Director, has organized a food collection effort at the school.
On Tuesday, November 18, students & staff dropped off shopping bags to the homes along 4th Ave NW (see: https://goo.gl/ZlOKYP). The bags included a note asking neighbors to donate what they could and leave outside for students to pick up on Monday, November 21.
I ran into the group as they were bringing full bags down flights of stairs and filling the back of Winchester’s vehicle. The students were excited to be participating in this annual tradition, and the field trip off school grounds.
In total, Kids Inc. collected an whopping 350 pounds of food for the Ballard Food Bank. Thank you to all the neighbors along 4th Ave NW who participated, and to the students & teachers of Kids Inc. for supporting the Ballard Food Bank.
