Local School Seeks State Money For Expansion

Is there an expansion coming to Ballard‘s West Woodland Elementary School?

43rd District Senator Jamie Pederson is supporting a $22M capital request for Seattle Public Schools, which includes an “…expansion at West Woodland Elementary School.” See Sen. Pedersen’s legislative update here: https://goo.gl/wR9X8Z

More portables? Adding onto the building? I reached out to Richard Best, Director of Capital Projects and Planning for Seattle Public Schools and here was his response:

“A ten classroom building addition was proposed, plus expansion of the existing gymnasium to serve the larger school population.”

If this passes, there will be a lot of happy kids, teachers, and parents in the neighborhood!

Did you know…?

Ballard’s West Woodland neighborhood is split between TWO districts, 36th & 43rd Legislative districts.
