Two Grand Openings on NW 65th Street!

Big news continues to come from NW 65th Street.  This week the West Woodland Neighborhood welcomes Jigsaw Records, and Stock to our small business community!

jigsawJigsaw Records, the music retailer within The Josephine’s performance space at 608 NW 65th Street, will be holding their grand-opening this Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Jigsaw Records had a soft opening back in October 2015, and has been waiting for the permit process to be completed. Now that the paperwork is in order, Jigsaw Records will be opened every Wednesday through Sunday, 11:00 am – 7:00 pm.

Operated by Chris McFarlane, Jigsaw Records specializes in power pop, twee, lo-fi indie pop/rock, punk-infused pop, and “pretty much any other kind of fun music that we fancy,” according to their website. Expect to see vinyl, CDs, and tapes from local, national, and international indie labels stocked at Jigsaw Records.

stockStock, West Woodland’s newest restaurant, is set to open Friday, January 29, 2016. Located at 500 NW 65th Street, Stock will be serving breakfast, lunch and early dinner, as well as weekend brunch, and Happy Hour on Friday and Saturday.

Expect Stock to become a regular on your neighborhood restaurant rotation. With a seasonal selection of soups, salads, and sandwiches, using bread from Tall Grass Bakery, Stock is bringing the best of Seattle to NW 65th Street.  For those who have missed having Tony’s Coffee in the neighborhood, you’ll be able to get your fix at Stock.  They will also serve a selection of Ballard beers and NW wines. A second new restaurant coming to NW 65th Street!

More big news coming from NW 65th Street!  Janet Eicher & Cameron Johnston, owners of West Woodland’s own Chocolat Vitale, are scheduled to open a new restaurant in Spring 2016. This husband and wife team opened Chocolat Vitale five years ago at 6257 3rd Ave NW, a stone’s throw from their new venture – joli.

joli will open at 618 NW 65th Street.  This space has been an under-used retail location for many years, hidden behind iron gates, and serving as a ground floor residence for about a decade. When the building first opened, this retail store front was home to the West Woodland Pharmacy.

Janet and Cam’s vision is to make joli an inviting neighborhood kitchen and to bring downtown dining to NW 65th Street in Ballard. The menu will reflect French, Italian and Mediterranean influences with a nod to the Riviera. Using the best ingredients from here and abroad, the restaurant will feature French and local wines, house made pastries, and artisan chocolate.

Now for the $30,000 question!

Like many restaurant projects, Janet & Cam are building joli with their own financial resources and sweat equity.  This is your opportunity to support joli, by joining the restaurants Kickstarter campaign.
